South African Zulu Baskets

Art Club is back!!! This session we are taking an 8 week tour around the world. Our first stop was South Africa, where we learned all about the beautiful baskets made by the Zulu tribe. We used yarn dipped in glue to create our own versions, and the results were terrific.

We blew up small water balloons and put them in recycled applesauce cups to start. Then we got very sticky dipping colored yarn in watered down glue to create these cool designs.

Since we were already messy, we decided to give string painting a try too! Jackson Pollock was a huge favorite of this group last session, so this was a fun way to create similar paintings with a whole new medium.
